Postural Alignment

What is Postural Alignment Therapy?

When the body is out of alignment it begins to compensate for the imbalance causing muscle tightness, decreased flexibility, and eventually the onset of pain. If left untreated, this can also lead to injury and or poor athletic performance.

While many treatments target symptomatic pain relief, these methods usually only offer temporary fixes to the underlying problems. Whereas, postural alignment therapy seeks out the root of the pain. By treating poor posture and its dysfunction you can eliminate the reason why pain occurs, prevent common injuries, and increase athletic performance.

How long does it take to alleviate pain?

You will begin to see and/or feel results immediately. In the first session you may experience walking and standing taller, improved balance and slight to complete pain relief. With continued therapy your posture will become more and more functional providing permanent pain relief.

What is the difference from what I am doing now?

Postural Alignment Therapy provides you with the tools necessary to manage your health care on your own. When you go to a chiropractor, they manually manipulate the bones into a proper position. Postural exercises strengthen the muscles so you can naturally hold your bones in a proper position without artificial adjustment. Massage Therapy relaxes the muscles offering temporary relief from tightness or tension, but in a short time, the pain returns. Physical Therapy focuses on a specific area of injury or pain, and does not address what might have caused the injury or pain in the first place. If the body was in proper position originally, there is a good chance the injury would have been prevented.

How Therapy Works

The goal of Postural Alignment is to eliminate disparities that can occur when injuries or lifestyle conditions affect the way the musculoskeletal system actually moves. You can be assisted in a variety of ways that include observing your gait, the way he/she strides forward, turns and executes other routine maneuvers. You are then instructed in a series of personalized exercises and then continue on your own at home. Modifications are made whenever necessary. You assume responsibility for your own health.
